IP Patient Education for Elderly People


In the course Patient Education for Elderly you will develop your ability to provide patient education according to the needs of the clients and have better expertise in patient education.

An informed and educated patient can actively participate in his or her own treatment. Patient education also increases patient´s ability to cope with and manage his or her health and empower him / her to make decisions related to the care. During the course you will gain a broad understanding of the role of nurses in patient education especially in regards to patient education for elderly. You will learn about patient education needs in patients over the age of 65 and about planning and implementing quality educational program. Time: 23-27.5.2016  (5 working days plus travelling day)
Application deadline for the students: Monday February 29th
March 15th: payment of grants

Workload: 3 ECTS. 5 scheduled days (1,5 ECTS), precourse work (1,5 ECTS)

Course level: Bachelor (preferably 2nd year or 3rd year nursing students)

Participants: participants from 6 partner schools in the Nordplus Danosfi network

Selection criteria for students 1. Bachelor level, preferably 2nd or 3rd year nursing student
2. Studies have progresses according to the personal study plan 3. Language and communication skills 4. Success of studies 5. Personal and social aptitude

Application, registration and IT support
You apply for the course by contacting your Danosfi contact person at your local school (see below). Selection will be made at the home institution according to the selection criteria's mentioned above. Students approved by partner schools can apply for Nordplus Express mobility grant of 330 EUR/student to cover travel costs as well as other additional costs. You plan and book the travels on your own.You preferably check in at the hotel on Sunday 22nd of May. Departure is scheduled Friday 27th of May at noon.  Viking line, Tallink Silja, Finnair, Next Jet

Lunches are provided free of charge for the participants, also the dinners and social programme that are arranged as shown in a separate timetable. Any food allergies/special requirements are addressed in the application form.
You need to get travel and health insurance for your travel to/from Åland as well covering your stay in Åland. Please, take contact with your insurance company for these matters.
